ART COMPETITION
2023
ABOUT:
Join us in celebrating May for AAPI Month and Mental Health awareness month at the Taiwanese American Heritage Festival, as we dedicate our theme in advocating for senior citizens well-being. We strongly believe through art; we can heighten community awareness while reducing stigma. It is with the participation of individuals like yourself that we can further spread the word and provide multiple lens to look and dive into this important topic of geriatric mental healthcare.
The 2023 i-Matter Mental Health contest invites all artists from grades kindergarten through sixth grade to participate in integrating a socially engaged art experience. In our journey we hope to break down societal stigmas and offer an opportunity to encounter and understand mental health through the lens of contemporary craft.
Submissions will be displayed in our i-Matter virtual art exhibit. Winners and some additional participants will be invited to be a part of our panel in a future Mental Health online forum to discuss their artwork.
Art submission shall be submitted at the Taiwanese American Heritage Week. The award will be announced and presented by the judging representatives at 3:30 p.m.
THEME:
As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, May 2023, we invited artists to share “Mental Health Matters to Seniors”. In this way, we hope to shine a light on the experience that senior citizens face with mental health challenges and raise awareness in our communities that Mental Health Matters.
